I’ve been reading more classic Claremont-era New Mutants, so tried to draw Illanya, but got frustrated and gave up. Probably won’t go any farther with this sketch. I’ll do something better of her another time.

I’ve been reading some New Mutant comics from the ’80s, the ones Chris Claremont wrote. They’re pretty dated in terms of art and writing, but I LOVE the stories. They’re so fun! One I just read: Kitty Pryde gets kidnapped by the Hellfire Club, so the New Mutants, because they’re kids, call the adult superheroes for help, but the adults are all off away on other stuff because of Plot. So the kids go to help, but oh noes! They can’t fly a plane, and a bunch of teenagers driving a fancy car is deemed too likely to attract the wrong kind of attention. So they go to the bus station and buy bus tickets to go save Kitty. I DIED. Best story ever. Anyway, looking forward to the Bill Sienkiewicz stories, which I’ve heard are just the best.
