faitherinhicks:

Last year I drew & co-wrote (with Neil Druckmann) the comic book prequel to the game The Last of Us, called The Last of Us: American Dreams. There was story DLC for TLOU released in February, which continued the story started in the comic. I was really thrilled by the story Naughty Dog (and Neil) chose to tell in the DLC. I’m a big believer in diverse representation of people in all art forms, and it was wonderful to watch Ellie and Riley fall in love in the game. It was a real honour to be a part of their story, and contribute to it through the comic.
If you enjoyed the TLOU DLC, Left Behind, pick up the comic and see how Ellie met Riley. Here’s the Dark Horse link, although you can probably find the comic anywhere, Amazon, bookstores, and your local comic store. :)

reblogging for the weekday crowd!

Winston & his pony Princess B from The Last of Us: American Dreams. He got a brief mention in the Left Behind DLC, so I drew him writing his angry letter to his commanding officer, ‘cause it cracked me up so much. Aww, Winston. Grumpy to the end.
Haven’t finished the DLC yet! We’re about half way through.

SO MANY BRICKS UP UNTIL 2AM DRAWING BRICKS
oh, fun fact: some the graffiti in this comic was me drawing my name over and over in a really scribbly script. XD

Hey guys, the collected edition of The Last of Us: American Dreams, the official prequel to Naughty Dog’s PS3 game (drawn and co-written by me. The other writer is Neil Druckman, head writer on the game) is out today! The collection includes all four issues of the comic plus some extras.
I worked soooooo hard on this comic, and I’m very proud of it! I hope you guys will pick it up, if only to see all the bricks I drew until 1am for 3 weeks straight. XD
PS. You don’t have to play the game to enjoy the comic, and it does not contain spoilers for the game.

Terrible phone photos of the sketches I drew at the Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival (DCAF) today. I had a lot of fun, thanks to everyone who came by to say hi!

An interview with me & Neil Druckmann about The Last of Us: American Dreams. Goes into some of the impact of a character like Ellie & female characters in gaming.

Here’s a link to a photo of the EB Games advertising I mentioned in the article. It was pretty cool!

One of my favourite pages from The Last of Us: American Dreams issue #3! Art by me, writing by Neil Druckmann & me, colours by Rachelle Rosenberg.
All four issues of the comic are out now from Dark Horse and there will be a collected edition in October.

I am so ridiculously proud to have been a part of this.

The Last of Us:American Dreams issue #1 colours by Rachelle Rosenberg & covers for issues 1-3 by Julian Totino. I really like the issue #2 cover. Issue #2 is my favourite anyway. ;)

Fun fact: to emphasize Ellie’s lack of agency, I made her physically smaller than everything around her, people, environment, cars, whatever, until she confronts Riley later in the comic. Ellie doesn’t even have a name until the 2nd to last page of the comic.

I’m very glad Rachel & Naughty Dog wanted to work with me on this project. It has been kind of amazing. ^_^
